21km events are open to 14 years and over. 

ENTRY FEES: 

Glenvale Texels 21km MTB - early bird entries (before midnight Jan15, 2023): $50; on the day entries: $60

Caldwell Contracting 21km Run - early bird entries (before midnight Jan15, 2023): $50; on the day entries: $60

Note: all prices include a light bbq snack and drink on completion of event. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Glenvale Texels 21km MTB and the Caldwell Contracting 21km Run start from the Glenham Hall beginning on the road, then moving into farmland and tracks climbing as high as 200 metres above sea level. A quick drop down to the Mataura River is followed by a climb to the historic 'Glenham Tunnel' before finishing at Glenham School.

Note: this course is normally closed to the public so this is a great opportunity to compete on this unique course.

ON COURSE:

  • First Aid will be available at strategic locations on the track and at the finish line.

  • Limited water will be available at strategic locations on the course and at the finish line.

RACE CHECK IN / BRIEFING:

All participants must check in on the day between 9.30-10.30am at Glenham Hall and be present for the briefing. At check in you will receive a race number. E-Bikes are welcome to participate in this event but only as a recreational entry,  it will be timed but not eligible for placings or the major bike prize.

The race briefing for the 21km events will be held at 11.10am at the starting point - Glenham Hall

GEAR:

  • Participants are expected to carry suitable clothing for conditions of the day.

  • Ensure you carry enough fluids for your race and provide your own food to consume during the race.

  • A torch/headlamp for going through the tunnel.

  • All cyclists must wear a helmet. Bike checks will not be carried out, but please ensure your bike is of a high standard and you have your own repair kit.

  • All equipment shall be the competitors responsibility.

 

RACE RULES:

  • Keep as far left as practical, especially during the on road sections of the course, where all normal road rules apply. Roads are still open.

  • Please obey the instructions provided at the 'race briefing' and the direction of the marshals. Failure to follow the marshals instructions or to comply with the race rules will result in disqualification. 

  • Walkers and Runners need to keep left in the tunnel to allow bikers to travel on the right.

  • The track is not suitable for prams / mountain buggies.

  • E bikes must be mountain bikes and suitable for off road use.

  • No Dogs permitted.

  • It is not possible for support vehicles to follow riders.

  • There will be no reserve day.

  • This event will be held in all weather conditions - come prepared for rain hail or shine.

  • The organisers reserve the right to change any or all times in the interest of safety because of adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

  • No refunds will be issued unless cancellation occurs due to a change in COVID Alert levels.

START AND FINISH:
All 21km events START at 11.20am at the Glenham Hall, 1013 Wyndham-Letterbox Road, Glenham heading south.

FINISH is at Glenham School.

DIRECTIONS TO EVENT:

Make your way to Wyndham. Then head south out of Wyndham via Balaclava Street for approx 10km to Glenham, the hall is on left. Parking is available behind the Glenham Hall.

PRIZEGIVING:
This will be held at Glenham School at the conclusion of the races or at 2pm. A raffle will be drawn at the prizegiving, (tickets available at registration.) Extra food and refreshments will be available to purchase at the finish line.
